DECATURVILLE, TN (WSMV) -
A Decatur County woman is accused of child abuse after her 10-month-old daughter was hospitalized earlier this month.
Felecia Kaye Gray, 27, of Decaturville, faces one count of aggravated child abuse and one count of child neglect after she allegedly shoved the girl into a crib, causing spinal injuries and several broken ribs.
The alleged incident occurred Jan. 5, and three days later - after another family member noticed the child was having trouble breathing - Gray took the baby to a hospital, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
Hospital staff noticed the baby's injuries, as well as malnourishment, and notified police.
The child is recovering at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and Gray was booked into the Decatur County Jail on $10,000 bond.
