SMYRNA, TN (WSMV) -

Just a few hours after police released a surveillance picture of a man suspected of using fake $50 bills, they later announced they had the person in custody.

Smyrna police said the man used a fake $50 at a GNC store on Industrial Boulevard Jan. 11.

Police said he made an $8 purchase and paid with a counterfeit $50 bill. He left the store and returned within a couple of minutes and got change for another $50, which was also fake.

The same man also went into the Game stop and Dress Barn in the same shopping center and attempted to get change, however he was unsuccessful at those locations.

Police have not release the man's name but said he was being questioned Tuesday afternoon.
