Carrollton Public Schools superintendent retiring

CARROLLTON, MI (WNEM) -

Carrollton Public Schools Superintendent Craig Douglas has announced that he will be retiring at the end of the school year in June.

Douglas has spent 40 years in education and he was named as Carrollton Public School's superintendent in December 1995.

Throughout Douglas's 18-year tenure as superintendent of CPS, the district has seen steady enrollment and increases that have bucked the trend of other area districts.

"I love the community and the district but I think it's time [to retire]," Douglas said. "It makes sense for me and for the district."

Douglas will assist in budget preparations for the upcoming school year before his official retirement date of June 30.
