HOPKINSVILLE, KY (WSMV) -

A 4-year-old girl was killed in a wreck on an icy bridge Tuesday evening east of Hopkinsville.

The wreck occurred on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way at around 6 p.m., said local police.

The child, Brooklyn Coleman, was a passenger in the back seat of a sport-utility vehicle that lost control while crossing a bridge that was covered with ice. The SUV left the road and struck a guardrail.

Brooklyn was pronounced dead at the scene.

The SUV was being driven by Amber K. Coleman, 29, of Hopkinsville. Another passenger in the vehicle was 29-year-old Brian F. Baker also Hopkinsville.

Amber Coleman was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Jennie Stuart Medical Center, while Baker sustained no serious injuries.

Police said it appears Brooklyn was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Both Amber Coleman and Brian Baker were wearing seatbelts.

It's unclear if any charges will be filed.
