For the first time in five years, organizers for the Caro 150 Winter Fest and Snowmobile Races are forced to cancel the event.

High temperatures and lack of consistent cold temperatures have destroyed the race track and there isn't enough time to rebuild it before the event.

The event was to be held from Jan. 18-20.

"This is the first time in five years that we've had to cancel," said Debra Lipan, president of the Caro 150 Winter Fest. "We've experienced January warm-ups before, but have had plenty of time to rebuild the track. It's heartbreaking not only to us but also to our community to have to cancel."

The festival is held annually on the third weekend in January. It usually takes a few weeks to get the track in racing condition, but because of this past weekend's warm temperatures, there isn't enough time to get the track up and running by Jan. 18.
