MURFREESBORO, TN (WSMV) -

The parents of a 3-month-old face charges after their child died last year.

Sierra Copley, 24, and Trent Hammers, 23, were arrested by Murfreesboro police on charges of reckless homicide.

Their baby, Lawless Hammers, stopped breathing and emergency personnel couldn't revive him.

The parents have been indicted and results from a toxicology report show the couple had narcotics and alcohol in their system.

"The investigation also reveals the parents were practicing unsafe sleeping habits. They actually let the child consistently sleep in the bed with them. We believe that sleeping arrangement help lead to the cause of death of suffocation as well as the drugs," said Murfreesboro police spokesman Kyle Evans.

Copley and Hammers are in jail on $100,000 each and are scheduled to be in court later this month.
