Wilson Co. School Board to debate controversial middle school plan

Posted: Updated:
LEBANON, TN (WSMV) -

The Wilson County Board of Education will address a proposed plan to relieve the county's overcrowded elementary schools tonight.

A controversial plan for a new middle school is on Monday night's agenda that involves using newer portions of the former Lebanon High School facility for a new middle school with grades 6-8.

The plan would pull students from Carroll Oakland, Southside and Tuckers Crossroads Elementary which currently house kindergarten through eighth grade.

Many parents oppose this proposed overcrowding solution because the old high school building needs extensive repairs.

The school board hopes to make a decision this month, but members say a final decision may take longer as they try to assess specific repair costs.

Tonight's meeting is set for 5 p.m.
