A man that police said was suicidal and wanted in Cannon County surrendered after a two-hour standoff Thursday morning.

Christopher Roy Coelho, 42, of High Meadow Drive in Murfreesboro, TN, was taken into custody at about 7:45 a.m., said Rutherford County Sgt. Chris Kauffman.

Deputies responded at about 5:30 a.m. to an apartment near Gresham Lane, where they learned Coelho was threatening to kill himself.

Coelho was believed to be armed with a semi-automatic pistol, the sergeant said.

Authorities said they attempted to communicate with him through a loudspeaker and his cell phone but he didn't respond.

After repeated commands to surrender, he was taken into custody.

Coelho was treated for injuries to his arm before paramedics and deputies escorted him to Middle Tennessee Medical Center.

Coelho was wanted on a violation of probation warrant in Cannon County.

Once released from the medical center, Coelho will be booked into Rutherford County Adult Detention Center, where he will be held on the Cannon County charges. Police said he does not face any charges from Thursday's standoff.

Police found a 22-caliber semi-automatic rifle and two large survival knives in Coelho's apartment.

Coelho's criminal history in Rutherford County includes charges of aggravated assault in 2001 and charges of DUI, evading arrest and aggravated assault in 2006.
