A rash of graffiti surfaced in west Nashville over the holiday season, but Metro police said it is not gang-related.
Someone spray-painted letters on the stone exterior of a water pump station on 38th Avenue North. Metro Water Department spokeswoman Sonia Harvat said the graffiti was first discovered right before Christmas but workers have not had a chance to pressure-wash it off because crews are shorthanded over the holidays.
Nearby, an 11-unit apartment building under construction off Charlotte Pike was also defaced with graffiti. The developer of the West Town Lofts, Ward Pace, said the damage is not permanent since the final paint and sheet metal hadn't been applied yet.
"Somebody's just wanting to have their art seen and there's so much traffic here. I'm guessing that's what it is," Pace said.
