BOWLING GREEN, KY (WSMV) -

The Bowling Green Police Department said Wednesday they have obtained a warrant for an arrest in connection with a 1998 cold-case murder.

On Nov. 10, 1998, the Bowling Green Police Department investigated the disappearance of Carol Marie Neal, 30, from her home on Shawnee Drive.  Evidence at Neal's residence led police to believe she had been killed.

In 2003, a hiker discovered Carol Neal's skull in McCreary County, KY.

More than 12 years later, a warrant has been issued for the arrest of Leland B. Neal Jr., the victim's estranged husband.

Family members said Carol Neal, who had two children, was in the middle of a divorce when she disappeared.

The whereabouts of Leland B. Neal Jr., are unknown.
