A Nashville family lost their home to a fire just before midnight on New Year's Eve.
When firefighters arrived at the home on Fawnwood Drive, they were told that two teenagers and a baby were inside.
Witnesses told Channel 4 News that the children's mother was screaming for help as flames leapt 30 feet into the air.
"From what I heard, she ran out of the house but she couldn't get anybody out and the fire department couldn't get in," said neighbor Tina McCord.
Several neighbors tried to find the children while firefighters removed bars that were covering windows.
Eventually, the group realized that the children were not inside the home.
According to firefighters, the mother was disoriented and was hospitalized for burns and a mental evaluation.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
