NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A west Nashville woman was taken into custody Tuesday morning after a fire at her own home.

The fire was reported about 10:30 a.m. in the 5900 block of Deal Avenue, and neighbors said the woman set the house on fire before going outside the watch it burn.

The woman allegedly tried to keep fire crews away with a cane, and she finally had to be carried off the property.

"She was threatening firemen, threatening policemen and she was threatening her own well-being, so the bottom line on that is she is probably getting the mental care she's needed for a long time," said District Fire Chief George Hickey.

Much of the home was heavily damaged in the fire, and investigators are looking into what caused it.

Neighbors also called police Monday after they said the woman was standing outside in the rain.
