A Smyrna man spent Christmas in jail after police said he led officers on a dangerous high-chase Monday afternoon.

A good Samaritan called police after seeing 49-year-old Isaac McGuire allegedly trying to break into cars in La Vergne.

Officers started to follow McGuire, but after he got on Murfreesboro Road he started driving at nearly 100 mph.

Police chased the car to Hamilton Church Road, where it then went airborne and crashed into a tree line.

Nobody was injured in the crash, and officers recovered $300 worth of stolen food, clothing and other items from his vehicle.

McGuire is charged with felony evading, resisting arrest, shoplifting and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said this was the 11th time he was charged with driving on a revoked license.

McGuire's wife was also in the car at the time, and she told police she had begged him to stop. She was not charged.
