SMYRNA, TN (WSMV) -
A Rutherford County family has lost their home to fire on Christmas Eve.
The fire was reported along Green Meadow Lane near Cardinal Court, south of Smyrna.
The flames quickly tore through the home around lunchtime, and firefighters said everything inside was destroyed.
No people were inside the home at the time of the fire, but family of the victims said the couple had a black lab named Allie, who was trapped inside and did not survive.
The nearest fire hydrant was nearly a half-mile away, so firefighters had to bring in water by truckloads.
Officials have not released information on the possible cause of the fire.
