NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Heavy rain that will move into Middle Tennessee on Tuesday night is expected to change into snow on Wednesday.

Rain will change to snow in southwest Tennessee around sunrise Wednesday, said 4WARN Meteorologist Paul Heggen.

By Thursday morning, the Cumberland Plateau could see a dusting on the ground, and areas in western middle Tennessee may see 1" to 2".

The majority of Middle Tennessee can expect a slushy dusting from the storm, which includes a slight accumulation on the lawn and roofs. No accumulation is expected on the roads.

Higher accumulating snowfall is expected near the border with Missouri in northwest Tennessee. Paducah, KY, and the Ohio River Valley could see as much as 4-6".

There is also a possibility for a rain/snow mix Friday night into Saturday.
