DICKSON, TN (WSMV) -

A Dickson County man is accused of killing his wife before stepping into oncoming traffic on Interstate 40 in Bellevue last month.

Morris L. Long Jr., 23, was arrested Wednesday after he was discharged from Vanderbilt Medical Center, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

The victim, Ashlee Long, was found dead by her mother and stepfather on Dec. 22 in a bed at her home on Bishop Lane in Burns, TN. Officials believe she died sometime between Dec. 20 and Dec. 22 from blunt force trauma.

According to police, the morning after Ashlee Long was found dead, Morris Long parked his vehicle eastbound on I-40 near the McCory Lane exit and stepped into oncoming traffic.

The man survived his injuries, and he now faces a charge of first-degree murder.
