Friends of a woman who died after a fight with her stepfather are rallying for justice.

They walked in MacKenzie Gibson's honor Saturday afternoon in Springfield along Main Street.

Police said Gibson died from a gunshot wound last month.

Officers say she grabbed a knife and bat during a fight and her stepfather, Thomas Bunn, grabbed a handgun and shot her.

Right now, no charges have been filed, and Gibson's friends say that's a shame.

"Basically, we're trying to get justice for MacKenzie. We just figured, if the shoe was on the other foot, she would've been gone, in jail. We just figured, that's not right because he did it. He should be in jail too," said Gibson's high school friend Jakemia Kennedy.

Police are checking the family's history with several jurisdictions.

Officers say they moved a lot because of Bunn's lengthy military career.
