Crews fight blaze at Columbia firefighter's home

Posted: Updated:

A Columbia firefighter had to respond to a call overnight that his own house was on fire.

The blaze happened around midnight on Parkview Drive.

Officials said the family dog started barking and woke up the sleeping family. They then called 911.

The firefighter's family escaped safely, but some property was damaged.

Firefighters on the scene say it was a very emotional morning having to fight a fire at the home of one of their colleagues.

No one was hurt.
