Rescue group rehabs dog found in TN landfill

Posted: Updated:

Murfreesboro animal rescuers are rallying around a dog that was found barely alive in a landfill.

Shiner the weimaraner was picked up at a dump in West Tennessee, weighing about half of its normal healthy weight, according to our news partners at the Daily News Journal.

Now, he is doing much better while under the care of the Almost Home Animal Rescue program in Rutherford County.

Rescuers expect to spend a couple thousand dollars to get Shiner back to his normal self, and the non-profit group has gotten donations via Facebook from around the world - as far away as England and Puerto Rico.

If you would like to help, visit the group's Facebook page.
