Smith County Schools closed because of illness

CARTHAGE, TN (WSMV) -

Students in Smith County are getting an early start to their Christmas break.

Smith County schools are closed Thursday and Friday because of a high number of ill students, said Superintendent Roger Lewis.

Lewis said about 10 percent of the student population is out sick.
