MURFREESBORO, TN (WSMV) -
Hundreds of parents in Rutherford County got a phone call Tuesday about another student who has contracted meningitis.
School officials confirm a student at Rockvale Middle School was diagnosed with viral meningitis.
The illness can be spread through close contact, though it is not usually as serious as other types of meningitis.
Earlier this year, a student-teacher at the school became ill with viral meningitis.
Officials recommend that if you suspect your child may be sick, have them checked by a doctor.
