Nashville prides itself on being Music City, but a popular musician became the target of a crime during a recent visit.
Brittany Howard, lead singer of the group Alabama Shakes, was with a group of others when two armed teenagers approached and demanded their belongings.
"Crime doesn't discriminate against anybody - anywhere and in any city," said Sam McCullough.
McCullough lives in the Cleveland Park area of East Nashville where the alleged robbery took place Sunday night.
Police said Howard was hanging out with as many as five other musicians when the teens robbed them of cash and cell phones.
"I think everybody just always needs to be aware of their surroundings when coming and going," McCullough said. "Be careful of carrying cash and credit cards, and just the normal things that you need to do anytime of year - kick it up a notch."
The teens, who were wearing hoodies at the time, took off and haven't been seen since. Some of victims' property was later recovered in nearby Cleveland Park.
If you have any information about what happened Sunday night, call Metro police.
