Suspicious package at LaVergne bank deemed harmless - WSMV Channel 4

LaVergne police and the Tennessee Highway Patrol deemed a suspicious package that prompted a bank evacuation to be harmless.

The incident was reported around 3:30 p.m. at the Regions Bank in the 5000 block of Murfreesboro Road.

Officials established a 300-foot perimeter around the package as a precaution while they inspected the contents.

A test of the package determined that it posed no threat, and the scene was cleared around 6 p.m.

Police Chief Mike Walker said the response was necessary, because the package was very much out of place.
