CLARKSVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Police in Clarksville think alcohol may have played a role in a wreck Thursday night that hospitalized a driver.

The crash occurred at about 8:20 p.m.

Investigators said 20-year-old Oplis Reynolds was driving on Crossland Avenue when he veered onto the sidewalk and smashed into a utility pole.

The truck ended up coming to a rest at the intersection with Gracey Avenue.

Crews spent about 25 minutes trying to cut the victim out of his truck. He was flown to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville in critical condition.

Police said Reynolds was not wearing a seat belt and may have been drinking prior to the wreck.
