A man who police said used a paddle to discipline his daughter and then made her stand in a corner for 15 hours, with a sock in her mouth said it didn't happen that way.
Joseph Price, 28, would often take his daughter to the park for a day of fun.
"Being at the park without my daughter is not fun at all," Price said.
But what he's now accused of doing is no child's play.
"This day and time you can't even spank your kids without DCS (Department of Children Services) being called."
Murfreesboro police said he excessively abuse his 3-year-old daughter, using a paddle to spank her. He would take off her pull-up before he did it, according to police.
"I spanked her behind, but I never hit her behind bare butt with a paddle like everyone is accusing me of," he said.
The other shocking allegation, according to police is he would make her stand in a corner for 15 hours with a sock in her mouth to keep her quiet.
"The sock in her mouth never happened," the father said. "I did make her stand in the corner, but not all at once."
Price claims things were taken out of context when he was questioned by police.
"I shouldn't use the paddle; I should have used my bare hand," he said.
Price said he's not the monster folks are making him out to be since the abuse allegations surfaced. He says he is starting to get death threats.
"Some are saying they want to beat the hell out of me and put me in a corner with a sock in my mouth for 15 hours," he said. "Another one wants to hang me upside down until I bleed to death."
Price said he's not a bad father, and anyone who knows him can vouch for him.
"I'm not a child abuser and a child beater," the father said.
Police say the 3-year-old had injuries to her legs, back, rear end, and head.
Case workers with DCS removed the toddler from the home. She is now in the custody of her mother.
Price was indicted on child abuse charges by a Grand Jury earlier this month.
