The accused killer of three neighbors in Bellevue had his case sent to the grand jury after testimony and waiving his right to appear in court.

Police said Craig Garber stabbed and killed his neighbors, a grandmother, mother and son, inside their Bellevue home.

Jason Zimmerman, another neighbor, took the stand in Garber's preliminary hearing to describe what he saw when he was one of the first to arrive at the home.

Zimmerman raced to the scene after the family's 9-year-old girl knocked on his door after Garber allegedly killed her grandmother Marylea Jordon, mother Michelle Pinkowski and Pinkowski's 14-year-old son Jonathan Culpepper.

"She flung the door open and she just started yelling 'He's killing my grandma! He's killing my grandma! Someone needs to hurry! She's not going to make it!'"

Zimmerman said he grabbed his gun, ran to the little girl's home, then came face-to-face with the accused killer.

"He looked right out the door. He looked right at me," Zimmerman testified. "I don't know if he couldn't see out because of the glare of the window, but we definitely made eye contact from what I could tell. He looked right at me."

Police said they showed up and found Garber inside amidst a disturbing scene.

"He was mumbling something about 'They attacked me,'" testified Metro Police Officer William Caillouette, one of the first on the scene. "I was trying to figure out who this was. I was trying to move through the house."

Investigators have not said much about a motive.

Neighbors did tell police Garber suspected Culpepper of stealing a GPS.

Officers also heard Garber had emotional issues and was on medication.

The day before the murder, a concerned YMCA employee called and asked police to check on Garber, who had suddenly canceled his YMCA membership.

Police said they found the murder weapon, a military-style knife, inside the home. Garber was not holding the weapon when police arrived at the scene.
