NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A police officer from the Berry Hill community is under arrest and accused of sexually exploiting a minor.

Cpl. Robert White also allegedly had child porn saved at his house, and authorities said that could just be the beginning.

It was a phone call Berry Hill police Chief Robert Bennett wished he had never gotten.

"It's hard to describe. It's heartbreaking. It's a police chief's worst nightmare," Bennett said. "It completely knocked the wind out of my sail to hear this."

During the investigation involving crimes against a minor, the Department of Children's Services contacted Murfreesboro police, who went to White's Castlemere Court home and found a USB thumb drive containing pornographic images of children in a sexual nature.

"It doesn't matter what your station in life is. If you are in possession of child pornography, we have a team of detectives who make it their mission to seek you out and hold you accountable," said Murfreesboro police spokesman Sgt. Kyle Evans.

At White's home Monday, his wife answered the door but declined to speak with Channel 4 News. She said the family has already gone through enough.

White was decommissioned Friday and then resigned after Bennett informed him that Murfreesboro sex crimes detectives were obtaining warrants for his arrest.

White, who has spent the last 3 1/2 years with the Berry Hill Police Department, could face more charges.

"If he is guilty of these charges, I will be the first one there at his sentencing hearing recommending the maximum penalty," Bennett said.

White was suspended three days last year for neglect of duty and using bad judgment for the way he handled a domestic situation.

He had a clean record while working at the Bartlett Police Department and also had 20 years of honorable service in the United States Marine Corps.
