NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -
An Antioch woman has been indicted for first-degree murder after investigators said she was responsible in the death of a child she was babysitting.
Mary Ann Lane, 57, also faces charges of aggravated child abuse and aggravated child neglect.
Lane is accused of causing extensive head injuries that led to the death of 2-month-old Maddox Roberts, of Murfreesboro, in August.
Police said Lane called 911 on Aug. 13 to report she had tripped and fallen while holding the boy, causing him to also hit the floor.
Maddox died at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital on Aug. 15, and an autopsy revealed his injuries were inconsistent with Lane's claim of a fall.
Lane was jailed in Nashville on $200,000 bond.
