Goodman Company employees in Lincoln County are still on strike, but workers said Wednesday they hope to reach a compromise.
Employees said they met with the company on Tuesday night, and they're just waiting for them to contact the union on Wednesday.
The manufacturing plant is the world's largest heating and air conditioning company.
After weeks of negotiations, contract talks between Goodman Manufacturing and the International Association of Machinists, Lodge 2385 broke down Saturday.
Workers started to hit the picket line at midnight.
The strike affects about 1,100 employees at the plant, bringing production to a halt.
Union spokesman Jerry Benson says this is the first strike at the factory since 1978.
"We don't have a history of problems with this company," Benson said. "We've had a good relationship over the years and we want to continue to have that relationship. But the members felt like the company was shifting a disproportionate amount of the healthcare costs onto them."
Benson also acknowledged that wages were a sticking point in the negotiations.
In a written statement to Channel 4 News, Goodman's spokesman Rex Anderson says Union officials and company representatives continue discussions to achieve a negotiated settlement.
"The company is working diligently and in good faith to secure an agreement that will satisfy the needs of our employees and our customers," said Dave Swift, Goodman president and CEO.
