2 killed in Robertson County wreck

Two people were killed and a third person was injured when the car they were riding crashed head-on into a tractor-trailer in Robertson County.

The wreck occurred about 3:15 p.m. on State Highway 49 east of Springfield near the Wilks Road intersection.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Teresa Jackson, 58, was driving northbound on Highway 49 with her son and mother as passengers when the car crossed the center line and crashed head on into a truck hauling rolls of steel.

Jackson and her son, Jason R. Jackson, 36, both of Portland, were killed in the wreck. Jean C. Ray, 82, of Cross Plains, survived the wreck and was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries.

Tommy Johnston, the driver of the tractor-trailer, also of Portland, was not injured.
