SMYRNA, TN (WSMV) -

A SWAT team member from Smyrna spent five days off the job after firing his weapon in the department's headquarters.

Corporal Steve Martin was suspended after his police rifle went off last month.

Martin told the department he was practicing drills with the weapon when he forgot the magazine was loaded and pulled the trigger.

The Daily News Journal reported a whiteboard was damaged, but no one was hurt.

Martin was taken off the SWAT team for a month and was ordered to take more training.
