A sport-utility vehicle smashed into a jewelry store in Wilson County on Thursday morning, causing substantial damage.
The vehicle crashed into the front glass windows at The Jewelers on West Main Street.
The business is located in a Kroger shopping center. It's unclear what caused the driver to careen into the business.
The store owner said he thinks the driver had a medical emergency, causing the wreck.
The owner had left the business a few minutes before the wreck, otherwise he said he would have been in the path of the vehicle.
"I adopted a puppy today and I had just finished the paperwork in my office and was headed home," said store owner Shawn Smith. "It was literally just two minutes before. My puppy saved my life.
"It could've been a bad day for everybody today, but it wasn't. The Lord was watching over us today."
