CLARKSVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A Clarksville man has been charged with domestic assault after police said he got into an argument with his girlfriend over the feeding of her guinea pig.

According to a police report, officers responded to the apartment that Emmanuel Igbokwe, 32, and his girlfriend Taylor Blair, 30, shared on Orman Drive Tuesday night around 6:40 p.m.

In the report, Blair told officers that the argument began in the upstairs of the apartment, and that Igbokwe had pushed her as she walked down the stairs, causing her to almost fall down.

According to police, Igbokwe claimed that they did get into a confrontation over the feeding of the guinea pig, but he denied he was on the staircase or ever touched his girlfriend.

Police said Igbokwe was found to be the primary aggressor and taken into custody.
