SPRING HILL, TN (WSMV) -

Spring Hill residents will be better prepared in the event of severe weather after the city announced Monday it is installing six new outdoor warning sirens.

The sirens will be placed in locations where they can give the best possible coverage for the most people, city leaders said in a press release.

Officials will sound the sirens in the event of a severe weather emergency, such as a tornado warning.

As the system is installed, the city will test the sirens and notify residents of the tests on its Nixle system and Facebook page.

Monthly tests are also scheduled for the first Saturday of each month at 1 p.m.

The new warning sirens will be located in the following areas:

  •  Spring Hill Middle School, Cleburne Road
  •  Winchester Building, Beechcroft Road
  •  New HCA Facility, Kedron Road
  •  Golfview Estates Subdivision
  •  Marvin Wright Elementary School, Derryberry Lane
  •  Pickett's Ridge Subdivision, New Port Royal Road
