The Gordonsville Christmas parade became a victory rally for the Gordonsville High School football team.
The team was named the grand marshals of the parade Saturday, a day after beating Huntingdon 21-20 in the 1A title game.
Coach Ronald Marshall said his team got tremendous support not only from Gordonsville, but all of Smith County and across the region and that's what helped the team win the Gold Football.
"That really meant a lot to us, all those fans up there yelling and screaming and the kids feed off that in the ball game and that's one of the reasons they kept fighting," Marshall said.
Gordonsville last won the state football title in 1984.
