LEBANON, TN (WSMV) -

Highway 109 in Wilson County was shut down for a few hours Wednesday morning after a multi-car wreck.

The crash happened at about 7 a.m. near Academy Road.

A tractor-trailer, driven by John Elmore, 29, of Morgantown, KY, was traveling north on Highway 109, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

A 1993 Buick driven by Maximillio Macheca, 19, of Lebanon, TN, was leaving a stop sign on Academy Road, attempting to make a right on Highway 109.

Macheca's vehicle failed to yield the right of way by stopping at the stop sign and was struck in the driver's side by the tractor-trailer.

The tractor-trailer pushed Macheca's car into a 2003 Buick, driven by Diane Cothran, 66, which was traveling south on Highway 109.

Macheca had to be transported by LifeFlight helicopter to Vanderbilt Medical Center.

A passenger in Macheca's car, Grant Jones, 20, of Lebanon, TN, was taken by ambulance to University Medical Center.  Cothran was also taken by ambulance to University Medical Center.
