CLARKSVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A crash in Clarksville on Saturday claimed the life of an 86-year-old woman.

Police said Evelyn Ray of Bowling Green, KY, was traveling north at 4 p.m. on Old Farmers Road when she crossed eastbound Highway 76, failing to yield to an oncoming 1999 Ford Mustang driven by Maurice Pitts, 26, of Clarksville.

The Mustang collided with the Impala between the driver's side front tire and door.

There were no signs of braking for either driver. Both were wearing seatbelts.

Ray was taken by LifeFlight to Vanderbilt Medical Center, where she died from her injuries.

Pitts was taken by ambulance to Gateway Medical Center with multiple leg fractures and was transferred to Vanderbilt by ambulance.
