FRANKLIN, TN (WSMV) -

What was supposed to be a fun holiday trip has ended in tragedy for a Middle Tennessee family.

Katy Nevil, a mother of two from Franklin, TN was killed Friday in a crash on the interstate in Hope, AR. Her young daughter, Lauren, was badly injured. Her son, Will, and her husband, Steve, are expected to be OK.

We're told the Nevils were on their way to Texas for Thanksgiving. They had only lived in Franklin for about a year and a half. But, it didn't take them long to make close friends with the Rolfe family.

Fighting back tears, Danielle Rolfe, told us about Katy Nevil.

"She has touched so many people's lives," said Rolfe.

According to the Arkansas State Police report, another car veered into the Nevils' path on I-30 Friday night.

A fund has been set up to help the Nevil family with medical expenses. You can donate by mailing a check to Southwest Bank at 3641 Matlock Road, Arlington, TX 76015. Donations can be made to Steve Nevil.
