Vanderbilt and Tennessee will meet in Nashville this weekend for their annual gridiron battle, and the stakes have never been higher.
The Commodores are looking to break a long home losing streak to the Volunteers, and fans of both teams seem ready to chip in.
"I came all the way from California - from Chico, CA - to see Jordan Rodgers. He's our hometown guy, and I just came all the way to see him," said Vandy fan Rod Grap.
John O'Neal will also be watching from the stands, but the former Vanderbilt safety had the honor of beating the Volunteers in Knoxville back in the 1970s.
Now, he's ready to see it happen here in Nashville.
"I get so tired of Tennessee orange coming in and taking over our stadium. I want to be black and gold," O'Neal said.
Vanderbilt head coach James Franklin has done his part to make sure the stadium is filled with black and gold on Saturday. Not only has he taken to Twitter to get people to come out, he has also made a few phone calls using students' phones on campus.
Franklin stopped by the student center Thursday, trying to convince students to stay rather than head home for Thanksgiving break. In some cases, he even called their parents.
"He was asking us if we were staying for the game, and he was really enthusiastic about it," said student Collier Bowling.
Other students said they are definitely going to be in the stands.
"I really think it will be filled with black and gold just because of the spirit that Coach Franklin has set and the general excitement of playing UT," said student Emma Catlett.
Vanderbilt has already won enough games to go to a bowl game at the end of the season, while Tennessee is still searching for its first SEC win of 2012.
The action kicks off Saturday at 6 p.m. at Vanderbilt Stadium.
