Opryland kicks off Christmas festivities with 2 million lights
NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -
The Christmas season is officially under way in Middle Tennessee as Gaylord Opryland Resort kicked off its 29th annual "A Country Christmas" on Thursday by lighting more than 2 million lights.
Holiday events start now through Jan. 1 and feature horse-drawn carriage rides, the Rockettes and colorful ice sculptures.
The hotel began preparing for the festivities in July by hand-wrapping each branch with strands of twinkling lights.
"With more than two million twinkling lights and acres of stunning decorations that attract visitors from all over the world, there's no better place to celebrate the season," said Gaylord Opryland General Manager Pete Weien.
