Girl arrested after bomb threat at Sumner Co. schools

Posted: Updated:

Gallatin police have arrested a 14-year-old girl suspected of leaving a note that led to a bomb threat and evacuation of two Sumner County schools Wednesday.

A teacher found the note underneath a desk at R.T. Fisher School, saying there was a bomb at the school and also at Gallatin High School.

All students and staff members at both schools were evacuated and dismissed early after the threat, and police joined crews from the Gallatin Fire Department and Tennessee Highway Patrol to secure both buildings.

After crews searched both campuses, they did not find anything suspicious.

Police said the girl is now charged with two counts of filing a false report, which is a Class E felony.

She was placed in Sumner County Juvenile Detention, and additional charges may be forthcoming, police said.
