Man who impersonated youth volunteer to be in court

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A man who claimed to be a youth program volunteer at the Cornerstone Church will be in court Wednesday for his arraignment.

Officers said Brian Lance Mitchell brought a 10-year-old boy to his apartment then sexually assaulted him in 2007.

The mother of the boy went to church officials because she was concerned about the relationship between the man and her son.

But church officials said Mitchell was never a youth program volunteer and only worked as a soundboard operator.

Mitchell is charged with aggravated sexual battery.
