Rutherford Co. election results may not be available until Wednesday

MURFREESBORO, TN (WSMV) -

Rutherford County's election totals may not be available until Wednesday because of a large amount of emailed absentee votes.

Ten people began counting absentee ballots early Tuesday morning. Election officials said they underestimated how long it would take to count the ballots.

No other vote totals from any of the county's various precincts or early voting totals will be released before absentee votes are counted.

The computer program used to count early votes in Rutherford County would not process the votes until after the absentee votes were counted.
