Monday's recipe (11/5/12) - Aimee Fortney's whipped vodka milkshake

Posted: Updated:

As you are watching Channel 4's coverage of Election Day, why not make a grown up milkshake with red and blue whipped cream to celebrate! Might as well take advantage of election day by getting "red and blue" festive!

AIMEE FORTNEY'S WHIPPED VODKA MILKSHAKE WITH RED AND BLUE WHIPPED CREAM FOR ELECTION DAY

2 cups vanilla ice cream, softened
1 to 1 1/2 cups milk (or Vanilla soymilk may be used)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon sugar
1 shot whipped vodka

Blend all ingredients in blender.  Top with homemade whipped cream. Dip martini glasses in water then in colored sugar sprinkles.

To make red or blue whipped cream:

AIMEE'S RED OR BLUE WHIPPED CREAM
Place bowl and beaters in freezer for at least 10 minutes prior to making whipped cream to ensure they are cold.

1 cup heavy whipping cream
1/4 cup to 1/3 cup sugar
2 drops red (or blue) food coloring

Pour heavy whipping cream into bowl and add green food coloring.  Beat heavy whipping cream until it starts to thicken, and slowly add sugar.  Add food coloring, then stir well to incorporate. You can add any kind of flavoring that you desire, or even add cinnamon, to make cinnamon whipped cream!
