Police arrest suspect in savage beating, other suspect still missing

Clarksville police have arrested a man on suspicion of assaulting and robbing a man on Friday.

Michael Gray, 23, is in custody, but according to police, his counterpart is still missing.

Last weekend, police issued warrants for Gray and Gregory Robinson. Both were originally wanted on aggravated burglary and aggravated assault charges.

They are among four men who allegedly beat up a man Friday afternoon at an apartment on Tandy Drive. Police said the attack was so severe that the victim lost two teeth, had cuts and severe swelling on his head.

According to investigators, the incident started when Robinson allegedly walked into the man's home, unwelcome, and demanded overdue rent at gunpoint. Police said he punched and pistol-whipped the man. Robinson claimed to be a "Blood" gang member, and would kill the victim if he didn't pay up.

The victim had been subleasing the apartment from Robinson.

According to police, Robinson then got three other men to join in and help. It is believed Gray was one of the three.

Shortly after the attack, police found an assault rifle near a car that may have been used as a getaway vehicle. The weapon was reportedly stolen during a burglary last year.

Police served Gray with 27 warrants. He's being held on a $202,291 bond.
