The father of Jason Lee Rose calls his son a hero. Rose came to the aid of Jacarvin Brown, who got into a fight at an outdoor Halloween party in the early morning hours of Oct. 27.
When Rose heard the gunfire, he immediately rushed to help Brown in a hail of bullets. That's when Rose was also shot and killed by gunfire. Police have identified the shooter as Shakar Drones. Drones is in jail on a multi-million dollar bond.
A visitation was held Wednesday night for Rose at The Community Church in Clarksville. His father, Bobby Lee Rose, told Channel 4 News his son did the right thing.
"We raised him to help people out. You teach your son to help people, and he did the right thing, even though it cost him his life. I'm proud of him, he's my hero," said Bobby Lee Rose.
It's been an emotional and grief filled night for Bobby Lee Rose. He saw his son for the first time since the shooting at Wednesday nights visitation.
"It did hit me hard. However, standing in line as all the people were visiting him, everyone he touched, they all said what a great person he was," said Bobby Lee Rose.
There is still one nagging question that Bobby Lee Rose would like answered, as he and his family prepare to bury his son.
"I would like to know why? Why he did what he did, that's my biggest thing," said Bobby Lee Rose.
