NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -
A methamphetamine bust has a south Nashville neighborhood on edge, not only because of what happened but also where it happened.
Metro police arrested three people after receiving a complaint of drug activity around 9:40 p.m. in the 4900 block of Shasta Drive.
When officers arrived at the house, they found three people, later identified as Corey Banks, 24; Peter York, 35; and Jessica Mayberry, 28.
During the investigation, Banks and York were detained. Mayberry fled the scene but was later captured overnight.
Neighbors, like Harald Lesch, couldn't help but notice the commotion in the normally quiet neighborhood.
"I woke up about 12:30. I seen all kinds of lights out there - cars and big old trucks and stuff," Lesch said. "So I know something was going on over there."
Police found items related to the manufacture of methamphetamine, including a "one pot" cooking vessel with residual liquid that field tested positive for methamphetamine, as well as chemicals, containers, plastic baggies, digital scales and pseudoephedrine tablets at the home.
Banks admitted to using methamphetamine but denied manufacturing it.
All three suspects are in police custody. Mayberry is jailed on $37,500 bond. Bail for Banks and York is set at $40,000 each.
"There's been trouble there for quite some time. There's been some going on all the time over the years. I've seen police called there quite a few times before," Lesch said.
Police records indicate dozens of calls to the home over the past two years. It makes for trouble for neighbors and others who prefer peace and quiet.
Police said the home is within 1,000 feet of "Step by Step" child care on Jonquil Drive.
