Security camera captures vandal destroying Romney sign

Posted: Updated:

Emotions are running high as the presidential election enters its final week, but one Antioch family never thought their home's security cameras would capture someone taking out their frustrations on a campaign sign in their yard.

Like many people around Nashville, Tammie and Lee King are not afraid to show their support for a presidential candidate by placing a sign in their front yard.

While the Kings said they knew their support of Mitt Romney wasn't the most popular decision in their neighborhood, they did not think it would lead to vandalism.

"Someone had come up here and literally stopped in the middle of the street and came up here, beat the daylights out of the sign and left. They don't like Romney," Tammie King said.

The incident happened in the middle of the afternoon while both of them were home.

The couple had installed the cameras after a car break-in this summer and said they never expected this.

"I was irritated, because no matter who you choose to support you should be able to show that support no matter what and not have to worry about someone coming on to private property and do this," Tammie King said.

In the end, the Kings decided not to call the police, but they hope this serves as a lesson to think twice because you never know when someone is watching.

"We decided to let it go with that, and hopefully it won't happen again," Lee King said.

The Kings said they will still show their Romney sign with pride and hope nothing happens again.
