(RNN) – Donald Trump hyped up his "game changing" announcement for Wednesday all week. Now social media is fired up about the news he claims will affect the presidential campaign.

In a YouTube video, the business man famed for firing people on television took credit for getting the president to release his long form birth certificate "or whatever it was he released" and now wants more information.

"If Barack Obama open up and gives his college records and applications and if he gives his passport applications and records, I will give to a charity of his choice – inner city children in Chicago, American Cancer Society, AIDS research, anything he wants – a check, immediately, for $5 million. The check will be given within one hour after he releases the records so stated," Trump offered in a YouTube video.

Trump said that releasing the records will end the questions and abate the anger of many Americans.

"They'll know something about their president. Their president will become transparent, like other presidents," he said.

Many on the internet are saying that this wasn't quite an announcement but more of a deal, with ultimatums hinted throughout it.

"Only a billionaire megalomaniac would attempt 2 bribe a President by withholding donations to charities #trump," tweeted Dr. Brown-Dean.

Some even suggest a specific counter offer.

"#Trump: I love #TheDonald. Skilled at creating buzz w/ little substance, Counter: Trade passport docs for tax returns!," Hull & Chandler said.

Trump previously denied staging a publicity stunt, insisting the announcement is "not a media event" but is "about the United States of America."

Speculations swirled around the web that Trump's announcement was linked to an alleged divorce that Obama and his wife Michelle had considered in 2000, to Obama selling cocaine in college, however the billionaire property developer denied all claims.

"All predictions re: my 12 o'clock release are totally incorrect. Stay tuned!" Trump tweeted.

Trump released the video announcement via Facebook and Twitter on noon Wednesday, followed by a written statement posted shortly after at 12:15 p.m.

The deadline for President Obama to hand over the documents is 5 p.m. Oct. 31.
