Free MTA rides, sobriety checkpoints planned for Halloween weekend

Posted: Updated:

If you plan on celebrating this weekend for Halloween, police are asking you to think before you drink.

Metro officers are planning to set up sobriety checkpoints around the area this weekend, and one has already been announced for Harding Place in south Nashville.

Officials are hoping if people know about the checkpoint, it will encourage them to not get behind the wheel.

Anyone looking for a safe ride home this weekend could get one with the Miller Lite Free Rides program as MTA will offer 20 bus routes for free from 8 p.m. Saturday until 1 a.m. Sunday.

Pickup locations will be near popular Halloween festivities, such as the Nightmare in Music City party, various restaurants, bars and other local neighborhood events.
